We constantly hear people complaining that they cannot afford to own their own property. This weekend I was personally reminded that it could sometimes be easier to rent than to own your home.
I had a situation where my hot water system stopped working on Friday night, and no matter what I did I could not get it to work over the weekend. Rather than ringing an after-hours plumber I waited until Monday to have the plumber come out to diagnose the situation.
The diagnosis was fatal, and a new hot water system was prescribed.
As I service a mortgage I have not eaten smash avocado out for a while, and it may still be a little longer now I need to pay for a new hot water service, but I have found a way to make it at home from scratch, and it still tastes delicious.
One thing I do know …if I were renting, I would have had the plumber attend the property on Saturday morning, and the hot water system would have been replaced that day with the owner picking up the additional after-hours costs and the new system.
